I hope everyone is having a good week and your 2017 is taking off in all sorts of good ways.
Today I have an incredible and inspirational, Wonder Woman, who I have the privilege of calling a close friend – Women’s Wellness Mentor, Author and Creative Spirit, the beautiful Karen Humphries of Colours of the Goddess.

Infertility as we know can be a roller-coaster ride. What should be a magical union can turn out to be a really hard and trying journey. Having been on the roller coaster myself for the past five years, I know all about its ups and downs and unexpected turns and heartaches. It is a journey where our Mind, Body and Spirit is truly tested and we can feel very disconnected to who we once were.
As a Women’s Wellness Mentor, I am on a mission to help the modern spirited woman be the best version of herself; wherever she is on her life’s journey. I also have personal experience of several unsuccessful rounds of IVF. I first had to face never having children when I was seriously ill between the ages of 23-36. So my qualifications and life experience are a perfect marriage to help others.
I cannot predict the future, for you or myself. But I can teach you techniques that will help to bring you back to the NOW.
I believe that we need to work on ourselves as a whole, thus working on our Mind, Body and Spirit equally.
Our mental health is vital to our overall well-being and is all too often neglected especially as we tend to view mental health as something that we don’t have an issue with. This is mostly due to the social stigma attached to it. But with infertility, it brings stress, anxiety and depression of different degrees. Therefore we can’t ignore this important factor, infertility really does affect our mental health and our mind.
We need to keep our bodies as healthy as possible especially as they are being drained by both medications and stress. Again when the stresses of infertility hit, we tend to hibernate and hide away from the world. But this is when we should be getting out and going to a yoga class, or going for a mindful walk and reconnect with nature. It is vital that we increase the good hormones.
Our spirit, which is very connected to both our mind and our bodies needs to be lovingly nurtured. It is like a plant and the water that we give it to keep it living is its nectar, without each other and their connections the plant won’t survive or thrive. So, nurturing your spirit will keep you balanced.
This whole journey can be like a long cycle in the washing machine only to find out that the spin cycle isn’t working and then to top it off, we are left to drip-dry out in the freezing cold. Each drip draining every fibre out of our beings.
With an open heart and mind, you can explore new ways to heal all three. The methods I use are tried and tested, many of them centuries old. I believe that they show up in our lives when we are ready for them, just like the saying goes:
“When the student is ready, the teacher appears”

This is a sure way to start affirming new positive intent into your life. Affirmations are short positive sentences that are repeated to reinforce these messages to our brain, and which have a ripple effect on our Mind, Body and Spirit.
2 Colouring therapy
Colour therapy can really help us to take mindful moments and just be with ourselves and re-connect to our true spirited selves. I am a huge advocate of this therapy and I have a free mandala for you to try and enjoy expressing yourself. Colouring-in is a mindful and very beneficial pass time and will help relax and change your state whilst going through the feelings and emotions of infertility.
3 Crystal Healing
Crystals are an awesome way of supporting yourself through this journey – I say that they are a girl’s best friend. Personally, I carry them with me and did so for all my treatments. There are lots of crystals associated and linked to aid and support you in your fertility journey. I have been helping others to use healing based on crystals and colour therapy for many years now and I have seen so many women reap the benefits from them.
4 Chakra Healing
Chakras are energy centres in our bodies and when our chakras are not working properly it can be because they are either be blocked or over-active which means that our Mind, Body and Spirit is out of tune. Chakras are also interconnected with colour therapy. So when we tune them up, we can feel like we are moving through life at optimal levels. There are many activities that you can learn about to re-tune and heal yourself through utilisation and alignment of and with your chakras.
Keeping a journal is an extremely beneficial tool, it helps the internal chatter to be taken out of your inner self and onto paper, which can be known to really help with our stress levels. It is also a reflection of where we are and can help us to better understand just how far we have come. It is a way for you to be able to express all those emotions that you need to get out but do not know how to.
6 Essential oils
Essential oils can ignite our senses so that we can be in a far greater state of relaxation or vigour. They can e used in a multitude of ways to help centre yourself again. Smell can evoke many memories and emotions to bring us back to happier times – just the thing we need to experience and be reminded of to help us when we are in a heightened state of stress or anxiety. ***Note*** Always consult your doctor before using essential oils as they can be very potent if not used properly and should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
7 The Art of relaxation
Through getting to know what makes us tick and how we function, we find out what things we like to do; and we learn just how much they can help us beat the stresses of life. This really comes to play when we are experiencing harder times like with what infertility brings us and keep it at bay. Relaxation can greatly reduce our stress levels. Yoga, walking dogs, taking up art are all things that can connect us and help us learn about the art of relaxation. They can help to ground us and help us to cope with difficult experiences.
Buddhists say that meditation is a natural sleeping pill. It is also a beneficial tool to help us weed our internal gardens. It aids us in the reduction of feeling less stressed, being centred and more grounded. It changes our responses to situations. So it is super special for all those circumstances that do arise with infertility. It is time that we came back to our true selves so that we can be mindful of our daily actions. It is simple to start.

We DO have power over the NOW and we can take steps to empower ourselves with the tools that will help us fight and work and befriend any battle or life situation that we find ourselves in.
